The cycles of completion and beginnings.
People often use the phrase that I am caught between two worlds – I no longer feel caught because I realize that I am part of "The World" and "The Universe," and the two worlds have merged into one. My present world is an esoteric one focusing on spiritual and healing practices using the Tarot. My Tarot readings guide people to find their truth which is at the intersection of logic and intuition. Together we will use Tarot to reveal the unseen world and make sense of the visible world, ultimately allowing us to discover valuable choices of action, remembering that life offers forever changing cycles of completion and beginnings.
I began navigating my life-long esoteric spiritual, metaphysical, and mystical journey as a child. Beginning at age seven, my psychic and intuitive skills were recognized and nurtured by my parents and I was introduced to multiple mentors. Formal training began with basic telepathic communication, along with the practice of remote viewing. I had the great fortune of working with Hugh Lynn Cayce (Edgar Cayce's son) on a project researching “safe-exploration of the unconscious". All manners of explorations were included such as hypnosis, mediumship, ESP research, and using dreams for guidance. The project included channeling and mediumship with the aim of connecting to spirit and to receive guidance regarding past lives.
As is common with many psychic children, I shut down and made a conscious decision to walk away from my abilities. But, anyone who has experienced a similar life situation will agree that you can never completely walk away; empowering forces continued to open the door and these experiences continued throughout my life. A conscious re-awakening brought my abilities into focus which resulted in a deeper understanding of my purpose and life's work. Today I embrace and acknowledge my path as a compassionate Tarot reader using all of my abilities.
My educational and professional background includes the areas of business, chemistry, law, political science, and veterinary science. In midlife, I changed direction and attained additional graduate work in education as a reading/language arts specialist. With the passing of time, comes wisdom and I can now clearly see how my professional experiences helped guide me on my spiritual path. As a teacher in the classroom, I felt close to an esoteric world working with many “gifted” high school students. I witnessed many students struggling emotionally and academically who, “just simply got it" - they had a deep level of understanding that there is something else beyond the five senses. Awareness and tapping into their gifts was tantamount to discovering their place in the world. My work included using the highest ethical standards to support and acknowledge these awesome kids and I am very proud that I was able to make a positive difference in the lives of some of my students.
In closing, I would like to share an ancient Icelandic word for intuition - “INNSAIE.” It can mean “the sea within” which is the border-less nature of our inner world, a constantly moving world of vision, feelings, and imagination beyond words. It can mean "to see within” which means to know yourself and to know yourself well enough to be able to put yourself in other people’s shoes. And it can mean “to see from the inside out,” which is to have a strong inner compass to navigate your way in our ever-changing world. This is Tarot.
My predilection to metaphysics began long before I was born. My paternal grandfather came of age in the 1920s and like all young people in every generation, he got swept up in the hipster, alternative lifestyle of his time, the New Thought Movement. After fully embracing this new way of seeing the world, he created and hosted a radio program in Spanish which in today’s parlance would be considered a New-Age Metaphysical show dispensing words of wisdom on the mind-body connection. His wife, my grandmother, was a seer who people sought out for healing and spiritual counsel.
I grew up in a household where everything paranormal or metaphysical was entirely accepted and commonplace. Seances, psychics, hypnosis, dream interpretation, ghosts, healing with the mind, were all considered normal and encouraged. I remember knowing who Edgar Cayce “The Sleeping Prophet” was, long before I knew what a Barbie was. Imagine my surprise when I started school and was exposed to the outside world where I learned we were seen as nut-jobs. I remember thinking that my entire elementary school probably viewed us as a local version of the Addams Family.
Although I didn’t know it at the time, I believe my own spiritual journey began as an infant when I had surgery for a life-threatening heart condition, which probably triggered what is now commonly known as an NDE (near death experience). My first five years of life were one of wonder and awe with a profound connection to everything that was sacred and magical. My household was non-religious and long before I knew what a church was, I knew who Jesus was and I spoke to angelic beings on a regular basis. An active imagination, possibly, but no one could dissuade me that my special friends were not real. Both my parents were seekers but my mother, in particular, was a seer. From an early age, she taught me to always follow my “hunches” (intuition) above all else, and if I did, I would always make the right choices. My father dabbled in tarot but was more interested in psychic phenomenon and mind-metaphysics. I still use his Tarot deck which I imagine is about 60 years old by now.
Once I started school that awareness of other realities evaporated as I tried in vain to fit in. It was at 18 that I again started to feel the tug of a spiritual calling and I began to study hands-on-healing, meditation, astrology and numerology. Within a few years, I discovered the Philosophical Research Society in Los Angeles (PRS) and began my studies in earnest. This education established a structured foundation which set me on my life-long quest for deeper knowledge and understanding of all things related to human consciousness. PRS became home – a home where I could quench my intellectual thirst as well as enrich my spiritual wisdom. Further along this journey, I acquired mentors that helped my empathic and intuitive gifts to flourish.
And so, you could say my quest for understanding of human consciousness has been a part of my essence since I arrived to this life. It has been my constant companion and passion since my first conscious thought. Even with this rich legacy, it has taken my entire life to arrive at this moment and go completely public. For many years, I have given readings or shared my knowledge for those in my inner circle but now the circle has expanded and together with my tarot partner I am open to supporting a broader group of people. All things in good time.
Alongside my esoteric journey, I have worked in Public Health and Human Services for nearly twenty years and was once the proud owner of a latino café and art gallery. Although these career paths may seem to be outside of the esoteric, I believe that they both in their own way contributed to my empathic development. With the benefit of age and experience, I have learned that sometimes the most mystical moments are found in the simplest of daily interactions.
I do not ascribe to any one particular belief system nor do I believe that I know what is best for you. I simply can offer my life experiences and the wisdom gained as a possible compass for your own path. I have total conviction in the idea that one of the reasons we come to this earth is to connect with and help others. I look forward to working with you.
